Catalog description

Introduces the fundamentals of aircraft wiring and related tools. Covers types and sizes of aircraft wire and wire size systems. Teaches wire marking and numbering requirements, wire inspection and maintenance, insertion and extraction of terminated wires into various connector types, wire harness security, and connecting terminals to terminal blocks/airframe. Teaches use and care of general-purpose, soldering tools, and stripping and crimping tools. Presents the types and purpose of drawings, including detail, installation, sectional, exploded view, block diagrams, logic flow charts, pictorial, electrical wiring interconnection systems (EWIS), Computer-Aided Drawings (CAD), and symbols used on drawings, including lettering, numbers, and fractions. Covers the location identification methods of aircraft equipment, including station numbers, datum reference, fuselage stations, waterline stations, buttock line stations, and wing stations. Prerequisite: ELEC 133 (PCS 1.2, 2.5 credit hours, 2 hours lecture, 1 hours lab)
