Catalog description

A survey of popular music of the 20th and 21st centuries, this course examines the musical characteristics, songwriting practices, and performance techniques associated with popular music of various styles and cultures. Social, cultural, historical, and political factors that shaped the development and reception of popular music will be examined, in addition to the development of critical listening skills.
