This workshop is designed to inform students about the history and operation of Restorative Justice (RJ) courts. RJ is a form of criminal justice reform, often referred to as transformative or progressive justice. It reflects trends in society and shifts in legislative perspectives, particularly in how nonviolent crimes and criminals are treated. The goal of restorative justice is not to punish but to rehabilitate and hold individuals accountable for their actions. Students focus on the theoretical and practical implications of employing Restorative Justice principles in the criminal justice system.
