Catalog description
This course explores viruses—their structure, replication, evolution, and interactions with host organisms. Students will examine the molecular and cellular biology of viral infection, the mechanisms of viral pathogenesis, and the role of viruses in ecology and biotechnology. By the end of the course, students will understand how viruses impact human health, agriculture, and global ecosystems, and how virology informs public health and biomedical research.
