Visual Communication 1
Lesley University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
Visual Communication 1 engages students in the conceptual and practical challenges of communicating visually across different contexts, audiences, and media. Building on foundational design skills, students learn to craft and adapt messages with clarity, consistency, and intention. Through a series of structured projects, students explore how identity, concept, and visual systems operate across sets of materials or multipage formats. Emphasis is placed on designing relationships that hold over space and time-considering hierarchy, narrative flow, and cohesion as essential components of effective communication. By the end of the course, students will be able to create purposeful visual messages that respond to audience needs and maintain conceptual integrity across a variety of formats.
