Leadership in Lang & Literacy

Catalog description

This course supports leadership development for language and literacy specialists, including reading, ESL/ELD, and bilingual teachers/coaches and educators in related roles. Language and literacy professionals critically reflect on language and literacy policies and practices in classrooms and school communities. They are equipped to collaborate with and coach teachers, advocate for student-centered improvements to curriculum, instruction, and assessment, and whole school change. Participants design professional development, plan professional learning communities, and examine responsibilities of language and literacy specialists to gain a deeper understanding of opportunities and challenges inherent in the role.
