To prepare candidates to teach English Language Arts (5-12) in diverse contemporary classrooms, this course explores reading, writing, listening, speaking, and viewing. Candidates will deepen their knowledge of writing instruction and reading comprehension, and will explore multifaceted modes of response to classic, contemporary, and young adult literature. With an emphasis on inclusive and culturally sustaining curriculum design, engaging instructional methods, and varied assessments, candidates will be prepared to support the needs of diverse students.
