Catalog description
This course deepens students' understandings of practices and principles for promoting inclusive and equitable learning communities. Through a second-year field experience, students engage in reflective classroom observation and connect theory to practice. Topics include anti-racist pedagogy, culturally and linguistically responsive teaching, family engagement, social action projects, and methods for integrating community knowledge. Students explore strategies for community building, managing positive classroom environments, curriculum literacy, and planning multidimensional lessons that connect with learners' funds of knowledge.
