Catalog description

Sport Management is a dynamic course that examines the business, cultural, and strategic dimensions of the modern sport industry. This course bridges theory and practice by exploring how organizations operate within an increasingly global, data-driven, and socially conscious environment. Students will engage in contemporary topics such as athlete branding, NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) rights, esports, sports analytics, media partnerships, and the growing influence of private equity and technology in sport. Through case studies, applied projects, and interactive discussion, students will analyze key functions including marketing, operations, governance, finance, and leadership within professional, collegiate, and emerging sport sectors. Emphasis is placed on ethical decision-making, diversity and inclusion, and the evolving expectations of fans, athletes, and stakeholders. By the end of the course, students will be equipped to think critically about the future of sport, evaluate strategic opportunities, and apply management frameworks to real-world challenges - preparing them for internships, careers, and leadership roles in the sport industry.
