This is the first and foundational wildland fire behavior course with the National Wildfire Coordination Group (NWCG) curriculum and includes:130 Firefighter Training, S-190 Wildland Fire Behavior, L-180 Human Factors on the Fireline, & ICS-100 Introduction to the Incident Command System. It introduces students to the basic concepts of wildland fire behavior, including: wildland fire environment components,characteristics and interactions of fuels, weather, and topography affect fire behavior; and fire behavior affects risk to firefighters. The Incident Qualifications Card (Red Card) certification is necessary to become qualified for wildland fire operations. Obtaining a Red Card involves a combination of classroom training, a field exercise, and in some cases, physical fitness testing. Wildland fire operations offer a variety of positions and necessitate a diverse skill set. Once complete, the Red Card certification must be renewed every year by taking the Annual Fireline Safety Refresher course (RT-130). An additional fee is required. Field trips required.(F)
