Catalog description

This course is designed to develop students' listening and critical thinking skills by introducing them to a range of music from around the world, with a concentration on the Western art music tradition from the Middle Ages to the present. Students will examine how music has transformed and functioned throughout history in response to cultural shifts, and investigate how music conveys different meanings.
