Catalog description

This course is constructed to offer students an understanding of how to address the literacy needs of students in middle and high school. The course focuses on adolescent literacy through literature and modes likely to be encountered in secondary school settings. In this course, students read salient examples of Young Adult (YA) Literature across a variety of forms and genres. Students learn about the history and place of YA lit and associated means of analyzing it, critiquing it, and intergrating it into secondary (middle and high school) classrooms. (F,S)
