Catalog description

This course will develop the necessary foundations in mathematics for prospective elementary teachers. The course emphasizes the developmental nature of learning in mathematics and a conceptual understanding of elementary mathematical methods and ideas through an inquiry-based approach. Candidates will focus on topics including Numbers and Operations, Algebraic Thinking and Reasoning, and Mathematics Pedagogy. Course fee required. (F,S)
