Catalog description

This course is constructed to introduce teacher candidates to strategies for enhancing foundational literacy skills for student learning. The focus is on the developmental nature of foundational reading decoding skills, beginning assessment of student phonological and phonics skill development, developing instructional strategies, and using diverse resources for instruction in the content areas based on assessment data. Competencies are based on NCSCS and the Science of Reading Development. Course fee required. (F,S)
