2026/FA: Ceramics 2 - Students are expected to have a strong foundation in the principles of ceramics construction and come to class prepared with ideas to pursue. Emphasis will be placed on the eloquent articulation of ideas in three-dimensional ceramics sculpture or installation. Discussions will focus on proficient techniques and technical execution as well as eloquence of communication. The intent of the artist versus the interpretation of the viewer of the finished product will be discussed. Additional techniques for construction and surfaces will be demonstrated. Further technical skills will be developed including but not limited to mixing glazes, testing glazes, recycling clay, and loading and unloading kilns. Additional fee. 2019/FA: Painting 2 - Students will learn how to apply good composition skills in their paintings, mix colors, form depth, and use shading to create density. Work at your own pace, while receiving assistance, feedback and critiques from the instructor and your peers to perfect the skills of working in the mediums of acrylic, oil or watercolor. Students will build their own canvas and learn how to prepare them. 2019/SU: Mural Painting - This course examines contemporary mural painting through both theory and practice. Students will study the history and roots of contemporary mural painting within the context of public art. Students will execute a design for a mural each semester, providing the College and/or community with new artwork. This will be a collaborative effort. 2019 SP: This course provides students with an opportunity to engage an in-depth investigation of photographyas an art form. Assignments, readings, and critiques will focus students toward the production of a personally relevant, cohesive final series. The curriculum will span a diversity of strategies and approaches used by contemporary practitioners.
