Catalog description

This course introduces the broad concept of advocacy through health policy. This includes the foundational development of health policy and its implementation. Societal and professional issues influencing nursing practice will be examined from a perspective of health disparities and equity. Areas of focus include healthcare reimbursement, the impact of social determinants of health and policies surrounding the end of life. Students will become active participants in developing and influencing policy, legislative and regulatory actions.
