Catalog description

This course introduces the student to nursing science through evidence-based practice (EBP) informed by research evidence. Students are guided in the principles and models of evidence-based practice to answer practice questions or solve practice problems involving diverse populations. This includes the formulation of a PICOT question, search for research evidence, critical appraisal of the evidence, and synthesis of the evidence to recommend an appropriate practice change. Steps of the quantitative and qualitative research processes will be presented and will include methods of critical appraisal. Skills for communication and dissemination of evidence are developed.
