Catalog description

Broadly speaking, environmental history studies the evolving interactions between humans and the natural world and makes the natural world an active participant in that history. In this course we will explore often well known events, such as the American Revolution, within the context of the human/nature relationship, thus giving us a very different perspective on American history. We will incorporate the study of nature with the study of human activity in order to gain an interdisciplinary understanding of environmental issues of importance today. Fulfills Core Requirements: Interdisciplinary Studies (IDS).
