Catalog description

This classroom/field course offers students of biology and environmental science systems the unique opportunity to study the fundamental properties of ecosystems and how the physical environment (climate, geography, geology) controls them, with specific reference to tropical and temperate ecosystems. This study will involved travel for an extended period to Costa Rica, in addition to two weekend daytrips in central New York State. Fiel-based learning activities examine the ranges of biological diversity and differences in ecosystem structure, and the geological and ecological processes that determine ecosystem structure and function in these two locations.
