Vocal Jazz Ensemble

Catalog description

An advanced performance-based class exploring jazz voice in an ensemble setting. Course emphasizes the study of a variety of jazz and pop/rock styles, overall healthy vocal technique, use of microphones and an active sound system, vocal improvisation, and overall musicianship. Singing and ensemble experience highly recommended, as the class requires strong sense of intonation, rhythm, and vocal blend. Performs multiple times per semester. Number of times course may be taken for credit: 4. 9 hours lecture, 81 hours laboratory. Transfer: CSU, UC; C-ID# MUS 180. Enrollment Limitation: Audition required.
