Catalog description
This course offers an examination of the aesthetic value of the natural environment as it pertains to human culture at large, as well as individually for each student. The course asks how "nature" (the nonhuman, the environment, ecology, etc.) is perceived, interpreted, and represented in "culture"(customs, arts, social institutions, etc.). The course includes studies in visual art (i.e. painting, photography, sculpture, land art, mixed media), film, philosophy, literature, and music. 54 hours lecture.
