Catalog description

Acquired Cognitive-Communication Disorders covers knowledge and skills within the speech-language pathology scope of practice related to prevention, screening, assessment, as well as management via both direct and indirect intervention for acquired cognitive-communication disorders. Disorders covered include acquired/traumatic brain injury (TBI), right hemisphere syndrome (RHS), and dementia producing events and diseases. This course focuses on theoretical, research-based, and evidence-based clinical management with attention to social bias and traditional medical hierarchies that impact the culture of care.
