This course introduces the principles and practices of public health emergency preparedness and response, covering emergency management systems at local, state, national, and global levels. Students will examine various public health emergencies, including infectious disease outbreaks, natural disasters, bioterrorism, and environmental hazards. Through case studies, they will explore risk assessment, emergency planning, crisis communication, and the role of public health agencies in disaster response. Emphasis is placed on ethical considerations, community engagement, and resilience-building in vulnerable populations. By the end of the course, students will gain practical knowledge to contribute effectively to emergency preparedness and response efforts.
