This graduate-level course explores digital forensics and incident planning within the criminal justice system, emphasizing the identification, preservation, analysis, and presentation of digital evidence. Students examine legal, ethical, and procedural considerations while developing incident response and forensic readiness plans to support criminal investigations and interagency collaboration. The course additionally focuses on response strategies for law enforcement agencies, prosecutors’ offices, and criminal justice organizations. Students analyze real world case studies involving cyber incidents, data breaches, and major digital evidence investigations to develop structured, legally defensible incident response plans. Topics include interagency coordination, forensic readiness, crisis decision making, and post incident review.
