This course introduces core cybersecurity concepts from a criminal justice perspective, with an emphasis on cybersecurity principles, cybercrime, victimization, prevention, and human factors in cybersecurity. Students examine how offenders exploit digital systems and human behavior, focusing on social engineering techniques such as deception, phishing, identity theft, hacking, and cyber fraud. Legal, ethical, and policy issues in cybersecurity are explored, along with cyber threats, vulnerabilities, risk management, and compliance practices. The course also introduces digital forensics and its role in cyber investigations and criminal justice processes.
