Academic ESL for College-level Literacy

Catalog description

This course is designed for students who need to improve their overall English-language skills to prepare for college-level classes, especially those requiring writing. Coursework will include instruction in sentence, paragraph, and essay structure; principles of grammar and mechanics; and revising and editing techniques. Writing assignments will include paragraphs and short essays. Students will also practice listening to lectures in English and taking notes on these lectures. Students will further develop their reading comprehension skills and vocabulary, as well as speaking and pronunciation skills. The course grade will be Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory.
