Sea Kayaking: Beginning

Catalog description
This course is designed for students interested in learning an in-depth introduction to sea kayaking. Students will spend the majority of the class kayaking on beautiful Lake Tahoe. Topics include equipment use, paddling strokes, rescues, boating safety, a brief overview of navigation, and water stewardship. Students are required to provide all necessary equipment. Rentals are available locally. The approximate cost for renting equipment is $50 per day. FALL 2025: NOTE: This class is partially online/EVE partially in class on campus. Students will be using a computer to assist in the learning process and are expected to attend class 16 hours with the remaining 2 hours completed online/EVE. SPRING 2026: NOTE: This class is partially online/EVE partially in class on campus. Students will be using a computer to assist in the learning process and are expected to attend class 16 hours with the remaining 2 hours completed online/EVE.
