Intro to Biological Psychology

Catalog description
This course introduces the scientific study of the biological bases of behavior and their fundamental role in neuroscience. It explores historical scientific contributions and current research principles for understanding brain-behavior relationships and mental processes. Topics covered include neuronal activity, hormones, sexual behavior, effects of brain damage, and the role of brain behavior in psychological phenomena such as sensation, perception, regulatory processes, learning, emotional behaviors, cognitive functions, sleep, movement and memory. Additionally, the course discusses psychological disorders and ethical standards for human and animal research. ADVISORY: ENGLC1000 or ENG 101 with a grade of "C" or better or equivalent.
