Catalog description

This course gives a comprehensive overview of the elements and styles of music from 1600 to the present. Study will focus on guided listening to compositions by selected composers. Emphasis will be placed on the understanding of various types of instrumental and vocal music including the symphony, concerto, sonata, vocal genres, jazz, and 20th and 21st century music. NOTE: Students taking online courses must log in during the first week of the course or make special arrangements with the instructor to avoid being dropped.
