Catalog description

This course is an interdisciplinary survey of the art, architecture, drama, music, literature, history, and philosophy in early Western civilizations. The course will cover the Stone Age, Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt, Minoa, and Mycenae. Study of Classical and Hellenistic Greek cultures and the Ancient Roman world will culminate with a study of Judaism, the advent of Christianity, and the Early Byzantine and Islamic cultures. ADVISORY: ENGLC1000 or ENG 101 with a grade of "C" or better or equivalent. NOTE: Students taking online courses must log in during the first week of the course or make special arrangements with the instructor to avoid being dropped.
