Introduction to Forestry (lab)

Catalog description
This course is the lab component to Introduction to Forestry (FOR 110). This course will familiarize students with a variety of lab and field techniques used in forestry. Students will become familiar with basic field procedures, protocols, and methods. The course will emphasize the proper use of field equipment, data gathering and analysis, and scientific reporting skills. Students will demonstrate an understanding of forestry concepts while visiting a variety of field locations. Part or all of this course may be conducted in the field. ADVISORY: Students should be both physically and mentally prepared to spend multiple days in an outdoor setting. Students should be comfortable performing the activities associated with camping and be capable of hiking over steep or uneven terrain. SPRING 2026: NOTE: This section is partially online/partially in class on campus. Students will be using a computerto assist with the learning process and are expected to attend class 40 hours with an additional 5 hours completed online. FALL 2026: NOTE: This section is partially online/partially in class on campus.
