Introduction to Forestry

Catalog description
This course will provide students with an introduction to forestry. Students will explore topics related to forest ecology, biology, silviculture, dendrology, hydrology, fire succession, and natural resource conservation and management. Students will investigate the relationships between the living and nonliving components of forest ecosystems while understanding the role and threats facing future forests. NOTE: Students who register for 110 will automatically be enrolled in FOR 110L. It's thje responsibility of the student to disenroll themselves from 110L if that is part of the academic plan. FALL 2026: NOTE: This section is partially online/partially in class on campus. Students will be using a computerto assist with the learning process and are expected to attend class 2.4 hours per week with an additional 2.4 hours completed online.
