Catalog description
This course provides an introduction to U.S. history and government, American customs and institutions, and naturalization procedures. Course topics will include development of listening skills and English speaking proficiency. Special emphasis will be placed on understanding local, county, state, and federal government agencies. Students will be given the opportunity to become more active in community affairs and will be encouraged to participate in the governmental process. Students will practice questions used in the U.S. Citizenship test. Students are advised to contact the ESL Department for assistance prior to registration at [email protected] or 530.541.4660 x 319.
