Academic Reading and Writing

Catalog description

Students will have an opportunity to develop mature skills in writing, reading, critical thinking, and research strategies, with an emphasis on expository and argumentative prose. Some or all hours may be TBA and focus on achieving the stated student learning outcomes. PREVIOUSLY ENG101 PREREQUISITE: Placement as determined by the college's multiple measures assessment process. SPRING 2026: Students who register for ENGL C1000 section 01 will automatically be enrolled in ENG 159 section 01. SUMMER 2026: NOTE: Section 01 is partially online/partially in class on campus. Students will be using a computer to assist with the learning process and are expected to attend class 54 hours with an additional 6 hours completed online. FALL 2026: NOTE: Sections 01-03 students must also be co enrolled in ENG 159 sections 01-03. Students who register for ENGL C1000 sections 01-03 will automatically be enrolled in corresponding ENG 159 sections.
