Advanced GIS: Web GIS

Catalog description

This non-credit advanced level course is designed for students seeking to expand their understanding of Geographic Information Systems(GIS) and its associated software. Students will learn how to deploy geographic information via a web mapping framework. This course isdesigned to provide students with the practical skills needed to keep pace with changing software and industry needs. This course mayalso be taken for credit (see CIS 135C). ADVISORY: CIS 135B or GEG 135 or CIS 551 or equivalent professional/work experience. Participants should bring their own GIS compatible laptop and smartphone to class. Interested students who do not own a GIS compatible laptop are asked to email [email protected] so that appropriate accommodations can be made. FALL 2026: NOTE: This section is partially online/partially in class on campus. Students will be using a computerto assist with the learning process and are expected to attend class 6 hours with an additional 10 hours completed online.online.
