Catalog description
This course provides an introduction to the concepts of management and information systems especially as used in business and similar organizations. Additional topics include the need for information, how computers are used in business and other organizations to provide information, elements of computer hardware and software, software development, data storage and communication, and the social impact of computers. Students will solve real-world business problems using personal productivity software such as word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation applications. ADVISORY:Working knowledge of applications software tools for word processing, spreadsheets, digital presentations, and database systems. NOTE: Students taking online courses must log in during the first week of the course or make special arrangements with the instructor to avoid being dropped. FALL 2026: NOTE: This section is partially online/partially in class on campus. Students will be using a computerto assist with the learning process and are expected to attend class 1.5 hours per week with an additional 3.5 hours per week completed online.
