Geriatric Medicine Rotation

Catalog description

SPM students will be paired with a preceptor who cares for the geriatric population in a variety of settings; including outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, inpatient rehab unit and nursing homes. This unique clinical rotation experience for third-year students exposes SPM students to the health and psychosocial challenges facing the aging patient population. The rotation will assist students in increasing their medical knowledge of diseases affecting the older adult, improve their communication skills, and value the delivery of compassionate patient care.
