Catalog description

Fundamentals of Biomechanics introduces students to the gait cycle and the biomechanical utility and relationships of the hip, knee, ankle. and joints of the foot. This course focuses on the physical and kinetic properties of bone, muscle, and tendon as it relates to function of the leg and foot. Students will learn how positional and rotational changes in the leg and foot affect patterns of gait. The course covers conservative patient care strategies designed to address biomechanical abnormalities. The overall goal of the course is for students to develop an understanding of the normal and pathological biomechanics of lower extremity.
