Periodontics III: Surgery and Implant Restoration

Catalog description

This didactic course will cover the clinical management of more advanced periodontal diseases and conditions, utilizing foundational knowledge from previous courses and new content. The science and art of dental implant therapy will be introduced. Clinical procedures associated with the surgical phase of both periodontal therapy and dental implants will be presented and discussed. Special emphasis will be placed on evaluating the effectiveness of periodontal treatment. The use of pharmacological agents, biomaterials, and biological agents in periodontal therapy and dental implant procedures will also be discussed. The relationship between Periodontics and other disciplines within Dentistry will be explored, highlighting the interdisciplinary nature of dental care. Strategies for integrating periodontics into general dental practice will be discussed, reiterating the relevance of periodontal maintenance programs in overall patient management. The importance of integrating clinical research findings into practice will be emphasized, highlighting evidence-based approaches to treatment.
