Catalog description

PBL is a composite of four courses that use clinical cases as a framework for learning. PBL requires becoming an active, independent, self-directed learner. The PBL cases serve as a mechanism for identifying what needs to be learned. PBL is not about solving clinical cases, instead it is about understanding the sciences basic to dental medicine in each of the cases. These sciences include the following: anatomy (gross anatomy, dental anatomy, neuroanatomy, embryology, and histology), behavioral science, biochemistry, genetics, immunology, microbiology, pathology (general and oral), pharmacology, and physiology.
