Adult Health Nursing III

Catalog description
Continued emphasis on building the student's current adult health theory and clinical knowledge base. This capstone course emphasizes nursing care of adults with acute, complex health problems. Alterations in pathophysiological processes that contribute to acute and chronic illnesses are investigated at a comprehensive level. Synthesis of data and use of evidenced-based research will guide the development of the nursing care plan. Use of technology will be emphasized. Concurrent clinical/lab experience is designed to augment leadership skills, communication, caring, advocacy, assessment, and decision making. Lecture: Three hours (3) of lecture/discussion per week. Lab: One half hour (.5) of lab per week. Clinical: Five and one-half hours (5.5) of clinical per week.

This course will have hybrid learning components. This means students will have weekly asynchronous hybrid learning requirements. Students will be responsible for reviewing content in course resources and completing assigned hybrid work by a specified deadline. The instructor will specify when hybrid learning components are due on the 1st day of the class. Due to Thanksgiving class will be held Monday 11/23/26 from 5-7:50pm in lieu of Wednesday course hours. Weekly clinical simulation is required in this course as part of mandatory clinical hours. Clinicals will also occur weekly on Saturdays at Swedish American Hospital. This course may have a single weekday clinical to be announced by the first day of class.
