Maternal Child Health Nursing

Catalog description
Focuses on a family centered approach to pregnancy, birth, and adaptation to extra-uterine life for contemporary childbearing families. Facilitates the application of: select mental health concepts, communication, collaboration, caring, and critical thinking/clinical reasoning necessary for safe care of childbearing families that is developmentally and culturally appropriate. Differentiates applicable patient education focusing on the family unit. Application of knowledge and skills occurs in the nursing skills laboratory and in a variety of maternal health areas. Lecture: Three hours (3) of lecture/discussion per week. Lab: one-half hour (.5) lab per week. Clinical: Four hours (4) of clinical per week.
