Catalog description

An introductory course in algebra. Topics include: solving equations by factoring, systems of two and three variables, the algebra of functions, inverse functions, complex numbers, and expressions, equations and functions that are rational, radical, quadratic, absolute value, exponential and logarithmic in nature. Not transferable. Four hours lecture/discussion a week.

Section notes

This course is instructed all online, but students are required to meet online as a group per the days and times listed.Synchronous courses happen online, but there are regularly scheduled class meetings just like face-to-face classes have. Everyone meets together online using a tool like Zoom or the D2L Virtual Classroom. Students and the instructor interact in the moment, and also communicate through email and discussion boards. Assignments, quizzes, and other activities are due on a weekly basis, just like in a face-to-face class. A scientific calculator is required. The approved calculator is the Texas Instruments TI-30X IIS. Use of any other calculator such as TI-83 or TI-84 graphing calculator is at the discretion of the instructor and may be prohibited. Please refer to instructor's syllabus.
