Basic Chemistry

Catalog description
Designed for students with no previous background in chemistry. This is a one-semester introductory general education course in basic chemistry for non-chemistry majors, occupational, nursing, and allied health students. Topics include measurement, matter, atomic structure, chemical bonding, nomenclature, stoichiometry, chemical equations, gas laws solutions, acid-base equilibria and nuclear chemistry. Concepts discussed in this course lay a foundation for surveying the role of chemistry in foods, agriculture, plastics, drugs, and our environment. Students without a year of high school chemistry intending to enroll in CHE 210 should enroll in this course. Three hours lecture/discussion a week. IAI: P1 902
