Introduces the basic principles of pharmacology as applied to nursing practice. Emphasizes foundational concepts including drug classifications, mechanisms of action, therapeutic uses, and common side effects. Focuses on safe medication administration, legal and ethical responsibilities, and the nurse's role in promoting patient safety. Introduces dosage calculation and medication administration techniques. Establishes the knowledge base necessary for progression into Pharmacology II. Arts & Sciences Elective Code: B
