Examination of the themes of existentialism, which may include absurdity, freedom, and the individual's relationship to the world. Philosophers studied may include Sartre, Kierkegaard, Nietzsche, Camus, de Beauvoir, Ortega y Gasset, Marcel or Tillich. Students with junior standing or above, who have not taken a Philosophy (PHIL) course, should contact the department for a prerequisite override.
