Catalog description

Examination of issues in medieval thought, such as the existence and nature of God, the relationship between faith and reason, the problem of universals and the nature of causality. Selections from philosophers such as Augustine, Boethius, Aquinas, Abelard, Avicenna, Maimonides, Meister Eckhart, Duns Scotus and William of Ockham. Students with junior standing or above, who have not previously taken a Philosophy (PHIL) course, should contact the department for a prerequisite override.
