Catalog description

This course explores the basic concepts and foundations of forensic nursing in both criminal and civil contexts. The different roles and responsibilities of the forensic nurse in the investigation of violence and trauma, as well as the integration of scientific, ethical and legal principles into the acute care and community nursing practice are examined. Providing specialized, holistic care for victims and families is stressed. Students review victimology, evaluate prevalent population-based health issues and explore forensic nursing interventions.
