Survey of 20th century history. Taking globalization and the stresses and successes of modernity as unifying themes, this course examines topics such as culture and ideology; sovereignty and decolonization; nation and nationalism; war and peace; Cold War and non-alignment; revolutions and the nuclear question; and some of the myriad ways different people and peoples across the world have embraced, exploited, contested, struggled and persevered, impacted and been transformed by the modern world.
