Catalog description

This course examines Italy’s role in shaping international fashion through its heritage, manufacturing knowledge, craftsmanship and innovation. Students study the evolution of Italian fashion through key 20th-century milestones; iconic designers; and contemporary shifts such as circularity, contemporary cultural narratives and the growing importance of sustainable development. The course highlights how established Italian fashion brands and emerging made in Italy designers merge tradition with creativity, developing responsible business models, innovative textiles and regenerative approaches. Site visits and guest speakers provide insights into Italy's tradition and leadership in the evolution of the textile and fashion industry.
